ARW Blogging Assignment 6

The most useful approach to use in critically analyzing The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemmingway is Santiago as Christ Figure. In this book, there are many elements that are related to Christianity. For example, in a scene where the old man goes back to his house with carrying the mast and his hands injured, the figure shows the cross of Christ. Furthermore, this injured hands are similar to Christ's hands. Therefore I think Santiago is characterized as Christ.

Today, We learned how to use of "Google Presentation".
When we prepare for the presentation, we can do many things by using this tool, for example attaching pictures, movies etc. I wanna be able to take advantage of this tool.

ARW Blogging Assignment 5

The main characters in Old Man and the Sea are Santiago, a fisherman and Manolin, a boy helps him.

Two adjectives that describe Santiago are patient and lonely.
First, Santiago had fished alone on the sea for 84 days but he couldn't take a fish at all in the end. If I was this old man, I would give up on the way. So, he has the great patience. Second, as has been mentioned, Santiago had fished alone. It shows he is lonely, but he is not absolutely lonely, he has friend, Manolin. So, he is not unhappy.

Two adjectives that describe Manolin are cheerful and kind.
First, he said these words, "And the best fisherman is you(the old man)."(P23), "I must get your sardines."(P27). According to them, he cheered up the old man by saying like that. Second, there is one scene where the boy was thinking "I must get him another shirts and a jacket~ "(P21). It shows his kindness, especially for the old man, is too deep.

ASP class in May 21

Today, I learned the way of presentation. There are three important keywords, "content", "structure" and "delivery", and Rab compared these things with a dinner in a restaurant, "Content" is quantity or quality of food, "Structurer" is the full-course dinner, "Delivery" is waiter. It's very interesting.
And the last about 15 minutes, we stood up in front of section mates and practiced the "Delivery". We looked at each audiences' faces 5 count per persons. It was not difficult, but I did it without speaking today. It may be difficult if I do it with speaking.

It shows the practice of lying in society. It can be used in whole part of my essay.

ASP class in May 11

We talk about what is the most important item when we are threw out on the center of desert because of the trouble of plane. All the member of our group chose "1 litter of water per person".
However, our ideas are different after that. It's because the choice of items depends on the way we chose, diamond mine, planes' route or staying the spot where the accident happened.
I never think that cosmetic mirror is the most important item in this situation. It can make flash by sunlight and inform of SOS.
My individual different score is 70. I will be die if i have such a situation.

ASP class in May 7

We discuss about who is the priority person to be rescued in dangerous situation.
In our group, two children and old man should be rescued quickly because their force of physical are not strong enough to swim for many ours. And we thought that the life of each person cannot be valued by their career or wealth. So, we thought about the way to rescue all of them again.
For example, the way to knot relief rope and elevators' rope and rescue party pull the rope. But t this is not realistic idea.
And in the last, we talk about who should be priority in AK class. This is too difficult question. If I encountered such a situation, I would look for the way to survive with all of us.

ASP class in April 27

We discuss about "50% of japanese is women, but only 10 % women work at the government. Why is that?"
Historically, women are regarded as people who have lower power and right than men, and it was taken for granted that "women should do housework." It is a kind of stereotype.
But recently, the status of women comes to be recognized and is advanced.
In the future, the population of women in government would increase.

ASP Assignment

The movie which show Matchpeg is funny. This is an amazing way to run meetings.
But, I don't think that it is really good way. In this way, good ideas wouldn't occur to attendance at the meeting because they are forced to take part in it.
 
And, seeing the other two movies, about good and bad discussions, I recognized the difference of both of them. In the bad discussion, There is no unity between discussers. One person move restlessly with the face of dull, the other person looks down and be so negative,etc.. However, in the good discussion, everybody listen to and look at the speaker and concentrate on the discussion. And the leader in the good discussion is good at pulling discussers together and collecting their ideas.
We should refer to this and try to be able to do such a discussion.

How do "good" college teachers present information?

According to Meiland, a "good" college teachers presents information in the following way.
They generally present information which is currently believed. These information has a rational
justification of belief and this is very important in college work. But it is not always right
that college teachers give true information. So, students must discuss and examine "the basis" on which informations are currently believed.
I agree with Meiland's opinion. I think that the most important thing in learning is the quest for truth. And, to have critical thinking, students would be more intellectual.
